Stupid Hippies

I went on a bike ride yesterday, it was very nice out. Amber and I were working our way up out of Kingston towards Indianola when a guy drives by with a long proud show of his middle finger. We shrugged it off and talked about why drivers hate bicycle riders so much. Must be my lucky week because today on our way home from a strenuous but fun ride we got a guy yelling, "Get a car stupid hippies!" Or something along those lines. We did about 12 miles today, nice little workout. The hardest partof the ride was, not pulling the guy out of his car and teaching him a lesson about "stupid hippies." Would have been easy to catch him at the stop sign. Yup, restraint got a full workout today.

Leaving Grand Turk

I'll be leaving Grand Turk on Saturday, I'm kinda bummed. It has been a great trip on a lot of levels though. First and foremost, I've had ample time to reconnect with my good friend Loren, I've also enjoyed getting to know his wife Jenny. They are both awesome people. I've also met a key person in regard to how I would like my career to progress. More on that another time. I've built two roofs, both of which Loren and Jenny are happy about. I like the sense that I've accomplished something on this trip, something people will enjoy long after I've gone away. I'll post pictures another day. This trip has been a testament of God's kindness towards me as well, I've brought my request before him and done everything in my power to make it work, with his blessing I've been away from work and home for 2 months with all my expenses covered and my pets taken care of. 

Right now my heart is heavy, I'll truly miss this place. I look forward to seeing my friends again, and I know life at home will be good, but this has been too good to describe with words and so I will leave reluctantly, looking forward to the time when God willing, I will come back. 

Working In Grand Turk

After two weeks of working here we are finally doing some stuff that doesn't involve working under the scorching sun. I've been busting butt to get the roof on this building, I framed the thing with Loren and then spent substantial time straping it, it's supposed to handle the 140 mph winds that huricanes bring with them. I'll just show some pictures of it so you can have an idea of what I'm up to these days.

Grand Turk and Computers

I'm in Grand Turk for the second day now and I'ts just starting to sink in that Amber and I pulled this crazy idea off.  We are here for 2 months.  I must say, it feels like God has been helping out a lot.  I have asked him for this trip a few times and have seen things just fall into place. A great example is Amber's computer solution. We had planned to load Windows XP on Loren's MacBook, that didn't work out as expected. So there we were with no computer and a deadline for a very important client. We asked God for a solution this morning. After breakfast, we headed for the office and started working. My good friend Dan's old laptop is here and has half the needed capabilities for Adobe Photoshop to run. We loaded it anyways. Amazingly, it's working great! Amber's files are small enough that she doesn't need all the horsepower normally needed. What a cool deal.  God does truly provide. 

Provision can be fun

Today I got to cut up some fire wood. Nothing compares to watching saw dust fly and the sweet smell of cedar. This is not only provision to keep us warm but also provision for fun. How cool. My awesome saw cuts like you wouldn't believe and I have a good time while I'm doing it. God made some amazing things, trees and chainsaws are high on my list of favorites. My brother gave me the saw as a wedding gift. Of all my gifts, this is my favorite. All the others were amazing but this one is my all time favorite. I love my new saw, I don't think Amber will allow me to add a pillow for the saw in the bed.

The Diner

The best place to get food in almost any town is at the Diner that's been there for 20+ years with original paint. I had the good fortune to secure a table for my very important meeting with Daron. We had some extremely important business to take care of, breakfast for the sake of breakfast, with no other agenda. The food was great, I loved the atmosphere, hard working people out to start their days on a hearty, heart clogging meal. I enjoyed the remnants of small town that could still be seen, people that know each other greeting oneanother by name. Cool stuff. In all I would say we achieved Breakfast in all of its glory, eggs, meat, hashbrowns and enough coffee to fuel a camel through the Gobi, accompanied by real conversation. Good stuff.

A life in the day of.....

Having an open mind and seeking the truth are not the same. An open mind will let anything thing in, whereas, a true seeker of truth will put to the test every thing, idea, or philosophy that my try to enter. The idea/philosophy will only be granted stay if it passes every test and question it may encounter.

I think the truth will always bring with it the fruit of life. The truth will resonate within, while other ideas or philosophies will only have a good feeling or flavor about them. Anything untrue will not resemble the life that made us man and woman.

So, I was trying to post to Dan's new blog, well, the requirement for posting is to have your own bloody blog. Technology fiend that I am, I decided I better get a blog so I can post my thoughts on Dan's blog. As for the importance of the info on this blog. Medium to nothing for now, tomorrow I may change my mind though, hmm.........
